2,2,2-Trichloroacetamide is a colorless to yellowish liquid with a pungent odor at room temperature. Soluble in water, alcohol and ether solvents. 2,2,2-Trichloroacetamide is one of the polar solvents with great polarity and good stability. At the same time, 2,2,2-Trichloroacetamide is an electrophilic reagent that can react with many organic and inorganic compounds.
Application
As an important reagent in organic synthesis, trichloroacetamide is often used to initiate electrophilic substitution reaction, condensation reaction and amidation reaction.
2,2,2-Trichloroacetamide is used as extraction solvent, polymer solvent and solvent catalyst.
2,2,2-Trichloroacetamide is also commonly used as an intermediate in plant protection agents, herbicides and insecticides.
